Ultrasoundfrequency:
The quality of an ultrasound examination depends on two criteria relating to the properties of the sound waves:

  1. The highest possible resolution (high transducer frequency).
  2. An adequate depth of sound penetration (low transducer frequency).
  3. Rule: Shorter wavelengths improve resolution but decrease the penetration depth of the ultrasound beam.
  4. Trade off: The optimum frequency range for diagnostic ultrasound is 1HMHz.The optimum range of wave lengths is 0.15).5mm
